Sources in the maritime security sector reported today, Wednesday, that a container ship sank near the Strait of Hormuz after being struck by a projectile, while another bulk carrier has been reported sinking following damage sustained in an earlier attack.

The sources indicated that the ship "G.F.S. Pride", flying the Singapore flag, has sunk, according to Reuters.

The Hydrographic Office in Pakistan issued a navigational warning to vessels today: "It has been reported that the ship G.F.S. Pride has sunk and there are floating containers, and sailors have been advised to exercise caution."

Efforts to contact the operating company of the ship "G.F.S. Ship Management F.Z. E", based in the UAE, for a comment have not yet been successful.

Data from the International Maritime Organization of the United Nations shows that "G.F.S. Pride" is the second ship to sink since the start of the US war on Iran on February 28.

In a separate incident, sources reported receiving notifications that another vessel, the Cape Dawn, flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, is sinking near the strait, after sustaining damage from a projectile on September 23.

Efforts to contact the operating company of this ship, also based in the UAE, for comment have also not yet been successful.

The British maritime risk management group Vanguard stated in a memo issued today, "It has been reported that the bulk carrier Cape Dawn, which flies the flag of Antigua and Barbuda and was attacked on September 23, is sinking after rescue efforts failed."
