The Arabian Gulf Cup Football Federation announced today, Monday, its approval for Iraq to host the Gulf 28 competitions, scheduled to take place in 2028, alongside the hosting of the Gulf Olympic Teams Championship in 2027.
The First Vice President of the Iraqi Football Association and member of the Executive Office of the Arabian Gulf Cup Federation, Sarmad Abdul Ilah, stated in remarks reviewed by the News Video Agency, that "the Executive Office has agreed to grant Iraq the right to host Gulf 28, which will be held from December 9 to 22, 2028."
Abdul Ilah added: "The Executive Office also approved granting Iraq the right to host the Gulf Olympic Teams Championship, which will be held from March 21 to April 3, 2027."
He explained that "the Gulf Olympic Teams Championship will take place in Basra Governorate, while the Gulf 28 competitions will be held in Iraq, with the Iraqi government, in coordination with the Iraqi Football Association, determining the city and stadiums that will host the tournament matches."
