Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed his country's position rejecting the economic terrorism perpetrated by the United States, emphasizing the legal and moral responsibility of the United Nations and governments to condemn these illegal criminal actions.
In an official letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the President of the Security Council, and members of the General Assembly, which was reviewed by "Video News Agency," Araghchi highlighted the latest acts of terrorism carried out under the guise of an economic exclusion process, clarifying that Washington seeks to force sovereign nations to give up their trade options and targets the country's economy after the failure of its aggressive wars.
He added that the threat of imposing secondary sanctions and exclusion from the US financial system contradicts the principle of equality of sovereignty enshrined in the UN Charter, noting that these measures target civilians by depriving them of food, medicine, and energy, and represent a clear deviation from the ruling issued by the International Court of Justice in favor of Iran.
The Iranian Foreign Minister called on the Security Council and UN member states to condemn and reject the use of unilateral coercive measures by the United States, refrain from recognizing or implementing those unilateral decisions, and demand that Washington immediately cease its threats and coercive practices.
