Ghalibaf: Either the oil market is foolish, or the United States is lying.

Iranian Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf mocked the American claims regarding freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, affirming that the leaps in oil prices refute the American narrative and prove the reality of control over the strait.

In a post on X, which was monitored by the Video news agency, Ghalibaf stated that either the oil market is foolish or the United States is lying, and everyone knows that the first possibility is not valid.

Ghalibaf added in response to claims from American officials that the Strait of Hormuz is still open, that the American disinformation machine claims there is no Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz, yet the market has imposed a significant premium on oil; as the price increased by $35 from the levels before the crisis, and by $50 when calculated based on actual oil prices.

He continued that either the market is foolish for buying oil at these high prices, or the American narrative-making machine is staging a farcical play, calling on those who believe the American narrative to seize the opportunity of what he called a free dollar-printing machine established in the Strait of Hormuz.
