The Dutch defense: Leaving the international coalition in Iraq is an important milestone in the path to its stability.

The Dutch Ministry of Defense confirmed today, Wednesday, that the withdrawal of the international coalition from Iraq after the conclusion of Operation Inherent Resolve represents an important milestone in the country's path to stability.

The ministry stated in a statement, which was reviewed by "Video News Agency", that "the end of Operation Inherent Resolve, carried out by an international coalition led by the United States against the terrorist organization ISIS in Iraq and Syria, means the end of the international legal basis for Dutch military participation in this mission in Iraq".

It added that "the NATO mission in Iraq has been operating from Italy since the beginning of the year with limited presence due to the volatile security situation, and is no longer present inside Iraq, thus there is currently no Dutch military presence in the country".

It noted that "the departure of the operation from Iraq came after the successful fight against ISIS, and represents an important milestone in the path to Iraq's stability".
