A massive explosion takes three power plants out of service east of Damascus.

A knowledgeable source in Damascus reported on Wednesday that an explosion occurred in the gas pipeline supplying the Tishreen thermal power station in the Haran al-Awamid area, east of the Syrian capital.

The source stated in a press interview accessed by "Video News Agency" that the power generation stations in Deir Ali, Al-Nasiriyeh, and Tishreen went out of service due to an explosion on the gas line at the Tishreen thermal power station in the Haran al-Awamid area near the town of Haran al-Awamid, (26 km southeast of Damascus), which led to the stoppage of gas supplies necessary for operating the stations.

He added that the fire resulting from the explosion is still ongoing, while specialized teams are following up on handling the incident, noting that no injuries have been reported so far.

Syrian news had reported hearing the sound of an explosion in the Eastern Ghouta in the Damascus countryside, indicating that the relevant authorities are verifying its nature.
