The prices of Iraqi and foreign gold stabilized today, Sunday, in the local markets of the capital Baghdad, while they recorded a slight increase in Erbil, coinciding with the rise in the exchange rate of the dollar against the Iraqi dinar.
A correspondent from the News Video Agency reported that the selling price of one mithqal of 21-carat gold, from Gulf, Turkish, and European types, reached 960,000 dinars in the wholesale markets on Al-Nahr Street in Baghdad, while the buying price was 956,000 dinars, the same prices recorded yesterday, Saturday.
The selling price of one mithqal of Iraqi 21-carat gold reached approximately 930,000 dinars, while the buying price was 926,000 dinars.
In the jewelry shops, the selling price of Gulf 21-carat gold mithqal ranged between 960,000 and 970,000 dinars, while the selling price of one mithqal of Iraqi gold ranged between 930,000 and 940,000 dinars.
In Erbil, gold prices rose slightly, where the selling price of 22-carat mithqal reached about 1,003,000 dinars, while 21-carat recorded about 958,000 dinars, and the price of 18-carat reached about 821,000 dinars.
The movement in gold prices coincides with the rise in the dollar exchange rate in Baghdad, as the Al-Kifah and Al-Harithiya markets recorded 156,500 dinars for 100 dollars, compared to 156,350 dinars yesterday, Saturday.
This comes amid the local gold prices being linked to the movement of the ounce in global markets, in addition to the impact of the dollar exchange rate in local markets, making the yellow metal susceptible to daily fluctuations in exchange rates and global markets.
The price of 21-carat gold in Iraqi markets had exceeded the one million dinar barrier for the first time for one mithqal in January of last year.
