The head of the parliamentary opposition bloc, Amer Abdul Jabbar, launched an attack today, Sunday, on the government performance and the oversight bodies in dealing with corruption files, revealing that there are 22 individuals accused of corruption and violations related to the railways file, who continue to work normally without legal accountability, according to him.
Abdul Jabbar stated in a statement followed by the news agency that there is a "government leniency and neglect" in pursuing those involved in wasting public money and manipulating contracts and projects related to the railways, indicating that the relevant authorities possess files and confirmations regarding the accused.
He added that the continuation of these individuals in their positions, despite the allegations against them, poses a risk to the course of investigations and may, as he put it, allow for the possibility of destroying evidence or passing new deals.
Abdul Jabbar called for referring the accused to the judiciary and the Integrity Commission and taking legal action against them, emphasizing that their continued presence in their positions represents a flaw in the mechanisms for combating corruption and holding those involved in wasting public money accountable.
He stressed that the parliamentary opposition bloc will not relent in following up the issue, announcing his intention to activate the tools of parliamentary accountability and reveal the details of the case and the names to the public, in accordance with the law and the adopted judicial procedures.
