Director: The Life of Stallone is the True Story of Rocky Balboa
Film director Peter Farrelly confirmed that the life of American star Sylvester Stallone closely resembles the story of the boxer "Rocky Balboa," during the world premiere of the film "I’m Playing Rocky" at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The film depicts the story of the production of the famous "Rocky" series, which turned into one of the most prominent cinematic and sports phenomena, showcasing Stallone's journey before achieving stardom and his determination to portray the character of a boxer who refuses to give in to difficulties.
Farrelly stated that "Rocky's story is actually a true story; Rocky is a fictional character, but Stallone's story is Rocky's story," pointing out that the film sends a message about not giving up or abandoning principles no matter the circumstances.
He added that Stallone, who is 80 years old, watched the film alone before its release, expressing concern about his reaction, before confirming that the veteran star was impressed with the work.
Stallone wrote the screenplay for the 1976 film "Rocky" and insisted on playing the lead role even though he was an unknown actor at the time, refusing to give up the opportunity to portray the character he created himself.
The film achieved great success, as it was nominated for ten Academy Awards, winning three of them, including Best Picture, later becoming one of the most famous sports films in cinematic history.
Actor Anthony Ippolito portrays Stallone in the film "I’m Playing Rocky," which showcases his determination to enter the acting world despite the challenges he faced, including his raspy voice and physical build.
The film also reintroduces one of the most famous scenes from "Rocky," where the boxer runs through the streets of Philadelphia to the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, in a scene that has become an enduring visual symbol in cinematic history.
