The organizing committee of the Baghdad International Book Fair announced today, Saturday, the success of the 27th edition's events according to internationally recognized standards, confirming an unprecedented public and official attendance with the participation of 28 countries, the largest in the fair's history.
The President of the Publishers Union and Chairman of the organizing committee, Abdul Wahab Al-Radi, stated in a press interview reviewed by "Video News Agency" that "the current edition has achieved remarkable success, and no previous edition experienced this level of public turnout," noting that "the fair had distinguished official attendance represented by the participation of the three presidencies, along with a large number of ministers, deputies, and political and societal figures."
Al-Radi explained that "the statistics reflected a qualitative and quantitative expansion; the number of participating countries increased to 28 compared to 22 in the previous edition, while the number of publishing houses reached 615." He pointed out that "the cultural program included organizing 10 seminars daily that attracted a group of intellectuals and specialists, in addition to interactive activities that included visual and musical performances and the distribution of free coupons to readers."
He added that "the committee faced organizational challenges with the support of sponsoring and supporting entities and the solidarity of work teams to present an event worthy of the Iraqi audience," emphasizing that "the actual evaluation of the current edition has already begun to develop future expansion plans, whether in terms of exhibition space or increasing the hosting of friendly and sister publishing houses and countries."
