The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah Al-Naaman, confirmed today, Saturday, that strict security measures have been taken to pursue those involved in recent security breaches and to ensure that Iraqi territory is not used to target neighboring countries.

Al-Naaman stated in a press interview reviewed by the "News Video Agency" that "the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces issued a number of firm directives following recent events, including the formation of a high investigative committee, the dismissal of the police chief of Maysan province and the directors of security agencies in the province, and referring them for investigation along with their transfer to command."

He added that "the directives also included heightened field measures to control the borders and border crossings, and taking all necessary measures to prevent any activity emanating from within Iraq that threatens the security of the provinces or neighboring countries."

He pointed out that "the Iraqi government will not allow under any circumstances the use of Iraqi territory as a launching pad for attacks on any neighboring countries or to harm regional security."

He emphasized that "the security and intelligence agencies continue to carry out operations to pursue and apprehend all those involved and refer them to the judiciary to receive their just punishment."
