The spokesman for the Iranian army, Brigadier General Amir Akrami Nia, stated today, Tuesday, that U.S. forces are moving in the region, and if it is confirmed that they intend to launch an attack, the Iranian army will carry out a preemptive operation or war.
Nia, in an interview with the newspaper "Al-Alam" followed by the video news agency, said, "The Iranian army has sought to take full advantage of this ceasefire opportunity, to update our target inventory, improve our equipment, introduce new gear into our combat organization, and utilize the reserves, experiences, and lessons learned during the war."
He pointed out that "the aim of these actions is that in the event of another aggression, we will be able to confront the enemy better than before, with greater determination, and on a larger scale."
He added, "If we confirm that the enemy will undoubtedly launch an imminent attack, we will certainly undertake a preemptive war or operation."
He continued: "We have done this on other occasions as well; during the war that lasted nearly two weeks, when the Americans targeted our positions, the Iranian army, on one occasion, targeted American bases with its drones; these were bases we anticipated would likely be a source of an imminent attack."
He went on: "Missiles also hit the American base in Jordan, and these operations are part of this preemptive war."
He noted that "the conditions for a preemptive war involve the principle of proportionality, the principle of urgency, and the principle of necessity, and all of these have been applied in our war. That is, we faced the threat in proportion to it, and we did not expand the scope of the war beyond that in our preemptive operations."
He added: "We engaged in preemptive operations when necessary; and we did not do so when there was no need. As for the principle of urgency, we apply it immediately when we feel that the threat is imminent, and that there is a possibility of an attack."
