The head of the executive body of the Communications and Media Commission, Bilegh Abu Kalal, announced today, Wednesday, the establishment of two clear conditions for the return of "Zain" company to operate and complete the procedures for settling its legal status.
Abu Kalal stated during the opening ceremony of the International Iraq Technology and Communications Conference and Exhibition (ITEX), which was followed by the News Video Agency, that the first condition is to provide a tax clearance certificate from the federal Ministry of Finance, while the second condition involves paying 500 billion Iraqi dinars to the Communications and Media Commission.
He clarified that the amount represents about a quarter of the dues owed by "Zain" company to the commission, and comes as a payment towards the account and a gesture of good faith and seriousness in settling the dues.
Abu Kalal added that if the two conditions are met, the commission is ready to conclude a new settlement contract with the company and complete the procedures for its return to operation in accordance with legal norms.
He affirmed that paying the 500 billion dinars does not mean waiving the remaining dues, but rather the payment falls under a new settlement contract that will be concluded between the two parties.
The head of the executive body of the Communications and Media Commission called on the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Ministry of Transport and Communications in the region to contribute to resolving the issue and to cooperate with the commission based on the vision it provided, and according to the specified conditions.
He emphasized that the continuation of the problem harms the people, affirming that protecting the interests of citizens in the Kurdistan region requires cooperation to reach a solution that preserves the rights of both citizens and the state together.
