President Nizar Amidi emphasized that the sovereignty of Iraq, the independence of its national decision, the unity of its land, and the integrity of its institutions are supreme constants that cannot be compromised. The President affirmed in a statement that the will of the Iraqis and their national interests are the basis for shaping the present and future of their country and determining its options and relationships.
He pointed out that sovereignty is only complete with a strong state, established institutions, a functioning legal system that monopolizes sovereign decisions and exercises its constitutional responsibilities over its entire territory. From this standpoint, the decision of war and peace is an exclusive right of the state and its constitutional institutions, and managing weapons and placing them in the hands of the state, along with subjecting all forms of power to the provisions of the constitution and law, represent a fundamental pillar in preserving sovereignty, protecting stability, and reinforcing the prestige of the state.
He renewed the call to all political and national forces to assume their responsibilities in protecting the unity of the Iraqi decision, prioritizing the supreme interests of the state over others, strengthening national cohesion, and fortifying Iraq from conflicts and rivalries.
He added, "With the end of the missions of the international coalition in Iraq, our country confirms its transition to a new phase of international relations, based on complete sovereignty, balanced partnerships, mutual interests, and non-interference in internal affairs. Iraq looks forward to expanding its political, economic, commercial, and cultural relations with countries around the world.
On the day of sovereignty, he remembered with reverence and loyalty the martyrs of Iraq from the armed forces, police, Popular Mobilization Forces, Peshmerga, and tribal mobilization, and all those who sacrificed their lives defending the land of Iraq and its people in the face of the terrorist organization ISIS. We salute everyone who contributed to protecting the homeland and preserving its security and unity.
