The apprehension of one of the most dangerous wanted individuals for armed robbery in Baghdad and Dhi Qar.

The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency tightened its grip today, Thursday, on one of the most dangerous criminal elements for committing armed robbery and theft in the provinces of Baghdad and Dhi Qar, under the supervision and direction of the Undersecretary for Intelligence and Federal Investigations.

The agency stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that a specialized task force was formed following intelligence information regarding the presence of a high-risk target who was fleeing justice and wanted in several criminal cases, and that they reached his location after investigation and surveillance.

It added that the accused opened fire on the force executing the duty as soon as they arrived, which necessitated the application of proper engagement rules, resulting in his injury and arrest. It noted that he carried out armed robberies on jewelry stores in Dhi Qar, in addition to an armed robbery where the owner of a restaurant chain was injured by gunfire in Baghdad.

The agency affirmed that all legal measures would be taken against him and that his statements would be recorded as a clear confession, assuring citizens that it would not hesitate or slack in pursuing criminals who threaten security and safety, and it would be a strong hand against anyone who dares to commit crimes against citizens.
