The Egyptian authorities have decided to suspend advertising screens along the main 26th of July axis as a precautionary measure until those responsible for displaying an obscene video on one of the region's main billboards are identified.

Pedestrians and drivers on the 26th of July axis in Giza were surprised to see an explicit video being broadcast on one of the advertising screens on the road.

A security source clarified that the relevant authorities are currently examining the circulated video to verify its authenticity and determine who operated it on the screen facing the direction leading to Sheikh Zayed City.

He confirmed that the authorities are striving to understand the reasons behind the broadcast of these scenes, and whether the incident resulted from a deliberate cyber intrusion by an unknown party or due to other technical reasons, in preparation for taking the necessary legal actions.

For its part, the responsible company issued an official statement explaining the circumstances of the incident.

It stated that an unauthorized breach of one of their advertising screens by an unknown party has been detected, and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway in coordination with the relevant authorities.

The company's statement added that the screen was immediately shut down as a precautionary measure pending the completion of investigations and necessary actions, emphasizing its commitment to the highest standards of safety and operation, to prevent such incidents from recurring.

Social media users widely circulated the video, documenting the appearance of inappropriate scenes on the prominent billboard above the busy road.

The incident raised questions about the mechanisms for operating and securing advertising screens on public roads that experience heavy traffic throughout the day, amid calls for stricter monitoring and immediate accountability for those responsible.
