Iraq is chasing a historic achievement in its first Asian appearance in women's rugby.

Assistant coach of the Iraqi women's rugby team, Bahshdar Ahmed, confirmed that the coaching staff and the players are working diligently to achieve positive results in the team's first Asian participation, with aspirations to present an honorable image of the development of the sport in Iraq.

Bahshdar Ahmed stated in a press interview reviewed by "Video News Agency" that "the team aims to show a distinguished level during the Asian competitions, reflecting the progress that women's rugby is experiencing in Iraq at the current stage."

He added that "the coaching staff focuses on preparing the players in the best possible way and benefiting from the Asian participation to gain more experience and exposure, in addition to striving to achieve positive results against the participating teams."

The assistant coach of the Iraqi women's rugby team pointed out that "the aspirations of the coaching staff and the players do not stop at the level of participation, but are represented in achieving an achievement worthy of Iraq's name that gives the sport an additional boost towards development and spread."

The Asian participation represents an important milestone for Iraqi women's rugby, as it is the first for the team at the continental level, providing the players with an opportunity to gain experience and compete in strong matches, as well as laying the groundwork for larger participations in future competitions.
