The head of the Iraqi Communications and Media Commission, Baligh Abu Kullal, expected today, Thursday, that Iraq's annual revenues from the mobile phone and information technology market will exceed $2.5 billion starting from 2027, as part of a plan aimed at enhancing the financial resources generated from this sector.
Abu Kullal stated in a statement followed by the news agency video that Iraq expects to achieve annual revenues exceeding $2 billion from the mobile phone and information technology market, starting in 2027.
He added that the commission is working according to a planned strategy to increase the financial revenues generated for the state from this sector, noting that forecasts indicate the possibility of revenues surpassing the $2.5 billion annual threshold, after it had been, in his words, at zero level during the previous period.
This direction comes as part of the commission's efforts to enhance the economic returns of the telecommunications and technology sector and expand its contribution to Iraq's overall revenues.
