The Ministry of Agriculture denied, today Friday, the existence of health risks associated with consuming imported eggs or their link to diseases, including bird flu, affirming that the information circulated regarding this matter is not based on facts.
The ministry's spokesperson, Qusai Al-Hattab, stated in a statement followed by the News Video Agency that the claim regarding imported eggs causing diseases or health issues for citizens is "incorrect, unfounded, and constitutes misinformation to the public."
He added that the countries exporting eggs to Iraq have not reported any cases of bird flu, nor has the World Health Organization issued any warnings in this regard, noting that the quantities that entered the country are believed not to exceed 20,000 cartons.
Al-Hattab clarified that these discussions, in his opinion, come as attempts by some producers to influence prices, urging citizens not to circulate inaccurate information or raise concerns about the safety of imported products.
