The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mohammed Tamim, confirmed today, Sunday, that a new installment worth 500 million dollars will arrive tomorrow from the United States.
In a statement followed by the News Video Agency, Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed Tamim said, "The parallel exchange rate will definitely decrease, and it will be very close to the official exchange rate."
He added that "the relationship between the government and the United States is distinguished and based on trust," noting that "the provision of cash dollars to Iraq has decreased over the past years to less than 3 billion dollars annually."
He explained that "the United States has taken measures over the past two months to send 3 billion dollars," pointing out that "the first installment arrived last Thursday, while the second installment will arrive tomorrow, Monday, with amounts exceeding 500 million dollars for each installment."
Tamim expressed his confidence that "the measures to be taken by the government and the central bank, along with the quantities that will be offered in the market, will lead to a decrease in the exchange rate to be close to the official price, and perhaps equal to it, as is the case in some neighboring countries."
