The Prime Minister, Ali Falih Al-Zaydi, confirmed today, Monday, that the relations between Iraq and France are built on historical ties and a genuine strategic partnership in the fields of economy, energy, industry, and culture.
Al-Zaydi stated in an article published by the French newspaper Le Figaro, according to a statement from his media office received by the Video News Agency, that the meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron represents an opportunity to redefine relations based on common interests and to open a new chapter in which Iraq is an active partner enjoying sovereignty and stability, contributing to containing regional tensions.
He explained that Iraq adopts a policy of dialogue and balance and rejects turning its territory into a base for threats or a battleground for settling scores, emphasizing that placing weapons under state control is a fundamental condition for building a unified state and enhancing security institutions and cybersecurity, especially with the imminent conclusion of the international coalition's mission on September 30.
He added that Iraq aims to enhance its position as a global corridor for trade and energy through the Development Road project that connects the Gulf to Europe, moving from political agreements to actual implementation by attracting investments, transferring technology, and developing national capabilities.
