Mr. Ammar al-Hakim: We stand by the Iranian people in facing the sanctions.

The head of the National Wisdom Movement in Iraq, Mr. Ammar al-Hakim, confirmed that the war against Iran had significant repercussions and expressed solidarity with its people against the sanctions, emphasizing their commitment to protect the Iraqi people from these sanctions.

Mr. al-Hakim commented on Iraq's decision to ban Iranian civilian aircraft from its airports, stating that Iraq believes in communicating with all parties and not getting involved in regional axes, while highlighting his concern to repair relations with neighboring countries due to recent events.

He continued that Iraq is the first country to receive an American exemption for Al-Najaf airport to deal with Iran, indicating that "understanding with the United States enabled Iraq to obtain facilities for visitors."

Regarding the air ban, al-Hakim said: "We thank the Iraqi government and those who helped resolve the air ban issue," describing the relationship between Iraq and Iran as unique, clarifying that "the behavior of some internal parties made Iraq a target for accusations."

He noted that "taking certain decisions aims to protect the Iraqi people from sanctions and is not intended to spite anyone," stressing that "the American messages received by Iraq were very clear regarding the consequences of not complying with the air ban."
