Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his hope to contain the escalating tensions with Iran through diplomatic channels rather than resorting to military force, warning of the repercussions of regional conflicts on the global economy, trade, and energy markets.
During the opening of the summit of Turkish-speaking countries in the capital, Ankara, Erdoğan stated that the conflicts in the region do not serve the interests of any party, emphasizing the need to intensify efforts to avoid further tensions and enhance opportunities for stability.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, he called on participating countries to make greater efforts to reach a fair solution to the Palestinian cause and to contribute to delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and beginning its reconstruction, reiterating support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He also underscored the importance of achieving peace and stability in the South Caucasus, praising the ongoing communications between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and stressing his country's continued contribution to efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region.
In another context, Erdoğan emphasized the unity of Turkish-speaking countries and the enhancement of their cooperation and common interests, expressing his hope for Turkmenistan's full membership in the organization and the development of cooperation with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
He pointed out that his country intends to work during its rotating presidency of the organization to enhance cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence and digital development, emphasizing that cybersecurity has become as important as land, air, and maritime security.
