The Imam of Friday prayers in Najaf Ashraf, Sayyid Sadruddin al-Qabbanji, affirmed today, Friday, his rejection of external pressures aimed at pushing Iraq towards a clash with Iran, emphasizing the necessity of protecting national interests and avoiding the entanglement of the country in regional and international conflicts.
Al-Qabbanji stated during the Friday prayer sermon in Najaf Ashraf that Iraq should not sacrifice its interests by cutting ties with Iran or participating in imposing sanctions against it, while also affirming that Baghdad does not wish to engage in confrontation with the international community.
He called on the Iraqi government to take an official stance regarding the continued violation of national sovereignty, following the incursions of Israeli aircraft and refueling planes into Iraqi airspace, noting that these operations are now occurring openly.
In another context, Al-Qabbanji referred to the ongoing debate regarding the Ja'fari personal status law, highlighting religious positions that affirm the status of the Ja'fari school, including previous statements by the Sheikh of Al-Azhar considering it the fifth school.
He also praised the quadrilateral meeting held in Tehran, considering it reflects the importance of addressing the region's disputes through dialogue and coordination away from external pressures.
Al-Qabbanji commended the resilience of the Yemeni people and the Ansar Allah movement, noting the field developments, and questioning who benefits from the continuation of the war.
