The assistant coach of the Al-Shorta team, Osama Ali, confirmed that the draw against Nuruz, with a score of one goal each, in the twelfth round of the Iraqi Stars League, did not meet the aspirations of the coaching staff and fans, noting that the waste of chances and the lack of offensive effectiveness deprived the team of achieving victory.
Ali stated, in a statement followed by the Video News Agency, that the team aimed to earn the three points at home, indicating that Al-Shorta performed well, but the match lacked effectiveness in front of the goal.
He added that the match was characterized by difficulty and speed, especially in its first half, pointing out that the team made a mistake in dealing with the offensive transitions that Nuruz excels at, although most of the match periods were in favor of Al-Shorta.
He clarified that the coaching staff made changes during the second half and increased the number of players in the forward line, in an effort to secure a decisive victory, but the brilliance of the Nuruz goalkeeper and the defensive organization of the opposing team, in addition to the lack of luck in front of the goal, prevented them from scoring the winning goal.
Ali noted that the problem of wasting chances and the absence of goals has recurred in several matches, emphasizing the need to address the negatives and benefit from the positives before preparing for the important match against Al-Hussein Irbid in the Asian championship.
He expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to overcome the current phase and deliver better performances and results in the upcoming matches.
