The House of Representatives decided to extend its legislative session for an additional month, aiming to allow sufficient time to discuss the draft budget for 2027 and complete its procedures before the start of the next year, amid expectations for the project to reach the council during this month after being presented to the cabinet and voted on.
Deputy Jassim Al-Alawi stated in a statement followed by the News Video Agency that the extension of the legislative session was made to accommodate the necessary time for discussing the budget and presenting views and understandings regarding it, noting that the upcoming budget includes important projects and is not limited to operational expenditures, expressing hope that it will help address several economic problems in the country.
For his part, Deputy Amer Nasrallah confirmed that the extension of the legislative session included a postponement of the holiday for 30 days, pointing out that the budget project is expected to arrive at the House of Representatives this month after it is fully presented to the cabinet and voted on.
He added that among the proposed files is to include 120,000 job grades in the budget, based on the approval of the Prime Minister, to be distributed among the provinces according to population ratios.
He noted that the parliamentary finance committee is studying proposals to increase the number of job grades to 200,000, aiming to expand the inclusion of graduates, especially those who graduated a long time ago, holders of higher degrees, and those working under population census contracts, in addition to other categories of graduates.
