The Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, affirmed today, Sunday, that the Strait of Hormuz is completely closed to navigation, describing President Donald Trump's claim that the strait is open as "a big lie."

Rezaei stated in remarks reviewed by the news agency that before the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, more than 100 ships were transporting over 100 million tons of goods, while the current number is only 7 to 8 ships transporting essential Iranian goods.

Major General Rezaei explained that Iranian forces are monitoring and targeting American smuggling ships, of which the Americans are trying to operate between 5 to 6 ships at great expense, noting that Iran has decided not to sink these ships out of concern for the environment in the region as they are laden with oil.

He confirmed that an exclusion zone will be announced outside the Strait of Hormuz in the coming days, starting from the line of the American naval blockade to include areas of the Arabian Gulf, emphasizing that any ship entering this new area will be placed on the sanctions list.
