Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed today, Sunday, the upcoming meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, in the city of Salalah, Oman, with the presence of Iraq and five countries from the region to brief the participants on the details of the new maritime route in the Strait of Hormuz.

Araghchi stated in press remarks that the meeting includes seven Gulf-facing countries and its agenda focuses exclusively on the new maritime arrangements and the agreement made with Oman in preparation for sending the documents and maps to the International Maritime Organization for official registration.

Abbas Araghchi denied that the agreement with Oman means the opening of the Strait of Hormuz at the present time, emphasizing that the reopening of the strait is contingent upon the United States retracting its measures and demonstrating its full commitment to the signed commitments in the Islamabad understanding.

The Iranian Foreign Minister pointed out that the countries in the region are capable of managing their security and stability through direct dialogue and building trust away from foreign interventions, affirming that the meeting represents a positive step towards reducing tensions and managing common files in the future.
