Areas in the Syrian provinces of Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Hasakah witnessed popular protests and roadblocks following the recent rise in fuel prices.

The popular protests in various regions of Syria included demands to lower prices and take measures to alleviate the living burdens on citizens.

Local reports indicated that several roads were blocked and the passage of oil transport tankers was prevented in parts of the Jazira region, while some locations saw protest gatherings where participants expressed their rejection of the new increases in fuel prices.

In the Raqqa countryside, the Deir ez-Zor–Aleppo international road was closed near the town of Huwaijah Shanan using burning tires in protest against rising fuel prices, while the Al-Karama area also experienced roadblocks and prevented the passage of oil tankers.

Similar movements were recorded in areas of Deir ez-Zor, which included blocking main roads, as protesters raised demands to lower fuel prices in line with the difficult economic and living conditions.
