The security advisor to the Prime Minister, Qassem al-Araji, confirmed today, Monday, the priority of maintaining Iraq's security and sovereignty, reinforcing state authority and the rule of law, and limiting weapons to the state. He also emphasized supporting state institutions and continuing efforts to combat terrorism and corruption, which enhances national security and preserves the country's stability and supreme interests.
The media office of al-Araji stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that the security advisor to the Prime Minister met with the acting American Chargé d'Affaires in Iraq, Stephen Fagin, where they discussed security and sovereignty issues, developments in the security and political situation in Iraq and the region, as well as Iraqi-American relations and ways to enhance cooperation and partnership between the two countries, particularly in the security and economic fields.
Al-Araji emphasized Iraq's keenness to build balanced relationships with various countries based on mutual respect and common interests, and the importance of continued cooperation and coordination to face common challenges, support paths of security, stability, and development, and strengthen the national economy.
For his part, the acting American Chargé d'Affaires, Stephen Fagin, affirmed his country's support for Iraq's security and stability and efforts to build a strong economy, and its commitment to continuing cooperation and developing bilateral relations, noting that the two sides will celebrate together on September 30 the completion of the withdrawal of the remaining international coalition forces, which enhances Iraq's sovereignty and paves the way for a new phase of cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
