On Monday, the police of Diyala Governorate, in coordination with security forces, arrested a suspect and seized an ancient archaeological manuscript and a firearm in the district of Mandali.
The Diyala Police Command stated in a statement received by the news agency that the operation was supervised by the police chief of Diyala Governorate, Mohammed Kazem Atiya, with joint efforts from the Mandali police department, the national security division, the criminal investigations division of Mandali, the intelligence and anti-terrorism division of Mandali, and the Mandali emergency response unit, following precise security monitoring that led to the arrest of the suspect on the road linking the district of Mandali and the Qazaniya subdistrict while he was heading from Khanquin district towards Mandali district.
It added that the vehicle used by the suspect was seized along with a handgun in his possession, noting that the necessary legal procedures have been taken against him and the seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities according to legal and procedural protocols.
The command confirmed its continued pursuit of wanted individuals and those outside the law, enhancing security and intelligence work to maintain citizens' safety and protect archaeological heritage and national heritage.
