The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in London condemned, on Monday, the recent speculations that linked Iran to an incident at Fairford Air Base, describing such claims as part of efforts to incite against Iran in Britain.
The embassy stated in a statement reviewed by the "Video News Agency" that it firmly rejects and strongly condemns the recent baseless and biased speculations circulated by some individuals and British media regarding linking Iran to the arrest of five suspects near the Royal Air Force Fairford base.
It added that the dissemination of such fabricated speculations, especially following the aggressive and criminal actions carried out by America and the Israeli entity against the Iranian people, aims solely to fuel anti-Iranian propaganda in Britain.
It indicated that the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to take appropriate and necessary legal action to protect the rights and interests of the country and the Iranian people in response to misleading and destructive media narratives.
British police announced yesterday, Sunday, a state of "major incident" in the village of Wilfspord near the Fairford Air Base used by American forces, and began evacuating several residents to a nearby recreational center, imposing a security cordon around the area.
Authorities arrested 5 individuals on suspicion of planning a "terrorist" act according to a statement from London police on Sunday, which stated that "it can now be confirmed that the Counter Terrorism Police are leading an investigation into an incident that occurred last night near the Royal Air Force Fairford base in Gloucestershire."
The village of Wilfspord is located in the southwest of England next to the Fairford base of the Royal Air Force, which is also used by the U.S. Air Force.
The Wall Street Journal reported an American official saying that Fairford base is an important platform for launching military missions targeting Iran, noting that the threat level at the base was raised on Saturday night.
