The Dhi Qar Governorate announced today, Monday, that it will co-host the Arabian Gulf Cup 28 with Basra, stating that this step is an important opportunity to enhance the sports reality in the governorate and develop the infrastructure.
This announcement follows the Gulf Federation's choice of Iraq to host the 28th edition of the tournament next year, confirming that the Iraqi government will choose the cities and stadiums that will host the tournament.
The governorate stated in a statement received by the "Video News Agency" that the Governor of Dhi Qar, Haider Ghani Al-Hussainawi, announced that the city of Nasiriyah will be among the host cities for the Gulf Cup 2028 alongside the Basra Governorate, emphasizing that this hosting represents a significant sports event for Dhi Qar and its audience, as well as an important opportunity to enhance the reality of sports and sports infrastructure in the governorate.
The governor affirmed, according to the statement, that the local government will mobilize all available resources and efforts to prepare the requirements for hosting, in a manner befitting the status of Dhi Qar and its sports audience, reflecting its ability to host major sports events.
