Strange media outlets reported that crude oil inventories in the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve have reached their lowest level in 44 years, falling to 283.8 million barrels.

According to data from the U.S. Department of Energy, this is the lowest level since October 1982, and this decrease is due to a decision made in March 2026 to provide up to 172 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve as part of swap deals, which requires companies to return the received oil with a price premium in the form of additional quantities.

On September 27, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States has shipped a record amount of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, surpassing levels recorded before the outbreak of war in the Middle East.

Trump also noted that oil prices are now cheaper than they were during the tenure of his predecessor, Joe Biden, and according to him, oil prices will see further declines.

He added, "Oil prices will start to fall once the war is over and demand decreases," and continued, "Oil prices will collapse, and prices will drop."
