Calls for urgent intervention.. Heavy water in the rain drainage pipes in Diyala

A member of the Diyala Provincial Council, Aws Al-Mahdawi, announced on Friday the opening of sewage systems for homes in rainwater drainage pipes as part of the West Baqubah project.

Al-Mahdawi stated in a press interview that "a large number of homes in the residential areas of West Baqubah have opened their sewage systems into rainwater drainage pipes that drain into the Diyala River without treatment stations."

He added that discharging sewage into rainwater drainage designated systems is a dangerous issue that requires urgent intervention, as it leads to damage to the rainwater systems and pollution of the Diyala and Tigris rivers simultaneously."

The Diyala Council member concluded by calling on government agencies and departments to take the necessary actions regarding the West Baqubah sewer project and in other areas of the province as well.
