The Ministry of Interior announced the seizure of 200,000 pills of the narcotic substance Captagon and the arrest of those involved in the case, in coordination with the relevant authorities in the United Arab Emirates.

The Ministry stated in a statement received by the news agency, "In a new security blow to cross-border drug trafficking networks, and with precise Iraqi intelligence information, the General Directorate for Drug Affairs and Psychotropic Substances succeeded, in coordination and cooperation with the National Anti-Drug Agency in the sisterly United Arab Emirates, in seizing (200,000) pills of the narcotic Captagon." It continued, "The operation came as a result of the efforts of the General Directorate, which worked on gathering, analyzing, and exchanging intelligence information with its counterpart in the United Arab Emirates, leading to the establishment of a joint security plan and monitoring its implementation, which contributed to thwarting this operation, seizing the shipment, and arresting the suspects."

It added that "this operation reflects the advanced level of effectiveness in international security and intelligence coordination, and the ability of specialized agencies to transform accurate information into proactive measures that track cross-border drug trafficking networks, encircle their movements, and cut off their paths before reaching their goals."
The operation comes within the framework of joint security efforts to combat drug smuggling, following monitoring that lasted more than a year, especially since the group had brought thousands of narcotic pills into Iraq from the Emirate of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and the involved parties in transporting and bringing them into Iraq were tracked. This step comes through enhancing security cooperation between the two countries to combat drug-related crimes.
