Firefighting teams extinguished a fire today, Wednesday, that broke out inside one of the electric oil refinery furnaces in the Al-Jabsa fields in the Syrian province of Al-Hasakah, without recording any injuries.

A knowledgeable source stated in a press interview seen by the "News Video Agency" that the firefighting teams in the Al-Jabsa Directorate and gas fields, in cooperation with the emergency and disaster management teams in the province, managed to control the fire before it spread to other parts of the facility, which has been undergoing rehabilitation and restoration efforts for some time.

The emergency and disaster management directorate reported that civil defense teams headed to the fire site immediately upon receiving the notification and were able to extinguish it, while initial information indicated a leak of flammable materials following a power outage.

No official results of the investigations have been released yet to determine the final causes of the fire, amidst initial reports circulating about a possible suspicion of sabotage, without official confirmation of this.

The refinery is considered one of the damaged oil facilities where efforts are being made to rehabilitate parts of it and restore it in preparation for its reactivation and re-entry into service.
