The Jordanian channel "Al-Mamlaka" confirmed today, Friday, that 7 people were killed and 10 others were injured, including some with critical injuries, in a shooting incident at Hamoud Church in Karak.
The channel reported from a source that armed individuals exited a vehicle and opened fire during a funeral procession from Hamoud Church in Karak.
It also cited an eyewitness from Karak who stated that the assailants shot directly at the church during the funeral.
The semi-official channel reported that security forces are pursuing the perpetrators of the shooting at the church.
Additionally, the Minister of Government Communication, Muhammad Hussein Al-Momani, stated that security forces are actively following up on the shooting incident in Karak, confirming that a statement regarding the operation will be issued "once verified".
Al-Momani added that statements with information will be issued once verified, urging everyone to allow security forces to carry out the necessary procedures and gather information from official sources.
Meanwhile, the Public Security Department issued a statement mentioning that "unknown assailants" fired shots inside one of the churches in Karak Governorate, resulting in several deaths and injuries, without providing further details.
