Deadline until next Thursday.. Maysan Council threatens Baghdad with "separation from the body of Iraq".

The head of the Maysan Provincial Council, Mustafa Da'ir, on Sunday urged the federal government in Baghdad to expedite the reopening of the Shib border crossing with Iran.

During a press conference held at the Shib crossing, which was attended by "Video News Agency", Da'ir demanded the "opening of the Shib border crossing within 3 days, and if the crossing is not opened within the timeframe extending from today until next Thursday."

He emphasized: "We will declare civil disobedience and close all roads, separating the province from the body of Iraq, if this demand is not met."

The Iraqi government decided on Tuesday, October 20, to close the Shib border crossing with Iran until further notice.

The Iranian Ministry of Interior expressed its discontent the following day over the decision to close the crossing, confirming that Tehran had not received prior notification of the decision from Baghdad.
