Islamic Consultative Assembly Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf affirmed that we will not yield to intimidation and are fully prepared to respond to any aggression that threatens the territorial integrity of Greater Iran with an unimaginable response. He stated that the threat of widespread war or assassination attempts will not drive the Iranian people to abandon their rights and interests.
Qalibaf, in his speech at the beginning of the parliamentary session, commemorating Imam Khomeini's historic protest against the capitulation law on October 26, 1964 (a law during the former monarchy that prevented the Iranian judiciary from prosecuting and trying Americans present in Iran for crimes), said: "On that day, the late Imam raised his voice against the Pahlavi regime, stating that this decision is a document of slavery for the Iranian people and a sale of the independence and dignity of an esteemed Islamic nation in exchange for American dollars." He then expressed his condolences on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her), saying: "Her brave defense of the sanctity of governance on earth taught us to stand against the enemy and to be insightful in the darkest circumstances. I hope that Allah accepts the condolences of the dear Iranian people and rewards them well." The Islamic Consultative Assembly Speaker, while discussing Imam Khomeini's (peace be upon him) historical speech rejecting the capitulation law, noted that the strategic and profound point in the Imam's speech that day was revealing the close bond between America and the Zionist entity, a bond that has become clearer today than ever. Qalibaf referred to a part of Imam Khomeini's (peace be upon him) speech, reminding: The late Imam emphasized that every calamity faced by the Iranian people and the other Islamic nations is sourced from foreigners; America has plundered our subterranean resources, and Britain exploited Iranian oil for many years at a throwaway price. He also mentioned that while Islamic countries were once in the grip of Britain and its agents, they are now in the grip of America and its agents.
He added: On that day, the late Imam revealed that the infamous Pahlavi regime had destroyed the country's fate and economy in service of American and Zionist interests. Today, nearly six decades later, the criminal acts of the Zionist entity in the region and Washington's efforts to break the will of the Iranian people through sanctions, assassinations, and military and economic measures, continue the same hegemonic trend.
* Iran today is not a colony of foreign powers The Islamic Consultative Assembly Speaker added: The fundamental difference between today and 1964 lies in the independence and strength of the Iranian people. Over the past forty-seven years, the Iranian people, guided by the late Imam and the martyr Imam, have broken the chains of slavery. Our beloved Iran today is not a colony of Western and Eastern advisers, but a powerful and independent regional force, having turned the dream of restoring the hegemony of imperialism and Zionism over the fate of this people into an eternal nightmare. Referring to America's efforts to pressure Iran, Qalibaf stated: "Americans think they can impose surrender on this great people through some media pressures or military threats, oblivious to the fact that Iran today is not the humiliating Iran of the Pahlavi era, but a stronghold of self-confidence, a defensive power, and a firm will that will not allow any foreign power to dictate the fate of this nation's dignity." He clarified: "We will not succumb to intimidation and are fully prepared to respond with a response beyond the enemies' imagination to any violation that affects the territorial integrity of Greater Iran. The threat of widespread war or terrorism is not something that will drive the Iranian people to abandon their rights and interests."
* There is no credibility to America's claims The Islamic Consultative Assembly Speaker affirmed: Unless America changes its behavior, stops its hegemonic and greedy tendencies, and compensates objectively, tangibly, and genuinely for its violated commitments, none of its claims will hold any credibility with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Qalibaf said: Iran has nothing new to say. America is the one that has gotten stuck in this quagmire due to its miscalculations and war against Iran, and now the Americans themselves must take the necessary actions to save themselves.
