The Ministry of Oil announced today, Tuesday, that it has reached agreements with the American company "Chevron" regarding matters related to the development contract for the West Qurna-2 field, with plans to sign the contract by the end of this year.
The ministry stated in a statement followed by the Video News Agency that Minister of Oil Basim Muhammad Khadhir Al-Abadi discussed with the General Manager of Business Development at the company, Joe Cook, the completion of negotiations concerning the field, as well as continuing discussions related to the development contract for the Nasiriyah field and the four exploratory blocks.
Al-Abadi confirmed the ministry's readiness to provide support to American companies operating in Iraq and to ease obstacles in their path, noting that these companies have expertise in the development of oil fields, technology transfer, and training human resources.
For his part, Cook expressed his eagerness to build a long-term partnership with the ministry in the West Qurna-2 and Nasiriyah fields, appreciating the efforts made to complete the agreements by the end of this year.
