Rescue of 10 people and retrieval of 2 bodies due to ammonia gas leak in Basra.

Civil Defense Directorate teams rescued ten people today, Sunday, and recovered the bodies of two workers while around fifty others were injured due to an ammonia gas leak at the Southern Fertilizers Company in Basra Governorate.

The directorate stated in a statement received by the News Video Agency that its specialized field teams rushed to address the leak at the company's site located in the Khour Al-Zubair area west of the governorate as soon as the report was received, where they managed to evacuate the injured and secure the external surroundings of the plant.

The Civil Defense Directorate confirmed the complete control over the leak site in cooperation with specialized technical teams to mitigate environmental risks and maintain the safety of workers and surrounding areas.
