The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Mr. Ammar al-Hakim, announced on Wednesday the launch of a mediation project by Iraq between the warring countries in the Gulf region to ease regional tensions, while emphasizing that the province of Karbala represents a success story in the field of providing services and reconstruction. Al-Hakim stated during a press conference held with the Governor of Karbala on the sidelines of his visit to the province that discussions with officials addressed regional developments and the potential for war breaking out in the area, as well as the economic situation in Iraq and the financial challenges facing the country. He pointed out that Karbala serves as a model for joint work in providing services and implementing projects, commending the efforts of the officials in the province, and stressing the importance of considering the number of visitors and residents when determining its share of electricity, especially during million-visitor occasions. He added that the federal budget does not include a specific provision for the "visitor dollar" project, similar to the petrodollar project, calling for rewarding provinces that complete their projects with their own capabilities, which encourages other provinces to develop services provided to citizens. Al-Hakim noted that the discussions also included the problems of farmers and their financial entitlements, as well as issues related to drugs and literacy projects, expressing hope for the continued development of Karbala and the strengthening of its service position. Regarding regional developments, he confirmed that Iraq has launched a mediation project between the warring countries in the Gulf, aimed at easing tensions in the region, which positively affects the security and stability of Iraq.
