The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Haider Bahaa Al-Husseini, announced today, Wednesday, that universities will move towards productive investment in partnership with the private sector, while referring to efforts to address the "HEPIC" file in a way that guarantees the rights of students.
Al-Husseini said in a press conference followed by the "Video News Agency," that "the Board of Directors at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research met today and discussed some matters that support the educational process in Iraq, and explained the vision from which the ministry will launch with its new management, which has made the student the goal it works for."
He added that "the ministry will support Iraqi universities in completing their infrastructure, laboratories, and staff, and solving some of their problems, in addition to shifting towards a productive and specialized university," noting that "universities will move towards investment with the private sector through the talents that the Ministry of Higher Education possesses."
He continued that "the ministry is in negotiations with HEPIC, and we will reach an agreement through the negotiations that serves the interests of the student and the interests of Iraq," clarifying that "this company is Iraqi with Iraqi staff, and the rumors about it being foreign are incorrect."
Regarding the land file, he confirmed that "the ministry has two paths for granting land to the ministry's employees; the first is based on a cabinet decision regarding real estate developers, which takes a long time, while the second path we have decided is to approach the cabinet to exempt the Ministry of Higher Education from the real estate developer issue and to move towards directly granting land."
