Tahrir Square in the center of Baghdad witnessed today, Sunday, the arrival of more than a thousand demonstrators to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the October protests, alongside the deployment of strict security measures in the Al-Bab Al-Sharqi area.
The participants raised Iraqi flags and chanted slogans that recalled the protests that began in 2019, which were considered one of the largest waves of protests in modern Iraqi history.
The Baghdad Operations Command announced that measures have been taken to organize the demonstrations and secure their surroundings, which included banning the movement of motorcycles and "tuk-tuks," while keeping the roads and access points leading to Tahrir Square open to pedestrians and vehicular traffic.
