The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baqaei, confirmed today, Sunday, that Tehran has never left the negotiating table with the American side, emphasizing its readiness to defend its territory at the same time.
Baqaei stated in a press interview seen by the "Video News Agency": "We have never left the negotiating table, and at the same time, we are fully prepared to defend our lands. Message exchanges are taking place through intermediaries."
He added: "The problem lies in the fact that the United States seems determined to impose its unilateral demands. Iran is not linked in any way to the operations that are allegedly being carried out against air bases in the United Kingdom."
Baqaei emphasized that "the Strait of Hormuz is not safe, not because Iran has made it unsafe, but because the United States and Israel have exploited this waterway and continue to exploit the entire region to launch military aggression, maintaining their illegal aggressive approach against Iran."
Baqaei concluded by saying: "As long as this situation persists, we have no choice but to take necessary measures to protect the integrity of our lands, our national security, and our people."
