The French news agency reported today, Sunday, that storm Austin caused power outages for about 10,000 homes in the city of Freiburg in southwestern Germany and neighboring areas, in addition to disrupting operations at the university hospital in the city.
The agency quoted the electricity provider Badenova stating that "strong winds knocked down trees and damaged power lines, which also led to partial disruptions in the mobile network."
It added, "Electricity has gradually been restored, after supply was gradually redirected to alternative routes, while the university hospital gradually resumed operations normally, following restrictions on admissions in the emergency department to life-threatening cases."
The storm, which is the first this fall, has caused power outages in France, affecting more than 240,000 homes, and weather conditions have led to disruptions in train services and maritime navigation in several European regions.
