An informed Iranian source revealed today, Thursday, that a formal message was delivered to the head of the authority in Damascus, Ahmad al-Shara, previously known as Abu Muhammad al-Julani, containing a set of Iranian conditions related to security and political files, in preparation for determining the course of relations between the two sides and containing escalation.
The source stated, in a statement followed by the Video News Agency, that the message, which he indicated was conveyed by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi, included demands related to halting support for armed groups, cutting any financial or military supplies to them, as well as dismantling what the source referred to as terrorist organizations within Syria and the region.
He added that the conditions included rejecting involvement in any normalization process with Israel, preventing the recruitment and sending of Syrian fighters to participate in military operations against Yemen, along with a demand not to utilize financial aid provided by the UAE and Saudi Arabia to support armed groups.
The source clarified that the Iranian demands included dismantling the camps of armed groups in Idlib, Afrin, Daraa, and other Syrian areas, pointing out that the message also stressed the need to ensure civil, political, and religious rights for the Alawite and Shia communities in Syria, and to stop the violations and assaults that he said target their members.
It has not been possible to independently verify the content of the message or its delivery, nor has there been any official confirmation regarding what the source reported about these demands.
