Iraq supports the nomination of an Emirati for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed, today Thursday, the support of the Republic of Iraq for the nomination of the sisterly United Arab Emirates for Lana Zaki Nusseibeh for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations, in appreciation of her extensive diplomatic experience, distinguished career, and notable contributions to the field of international cooperation.

The ministry stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that it affirms its confidence in Lana Zaki Nusseibeh's ability to contribute to enhancing the performance of the United Nations and strengthening its effectiveness in responding to current global challenges, which supports multilateral international action and enhances the organization's role in establishing international peace and security.

It added that the Republic of Iraq renews, in this context, its commitment to supporting multilateral international work and enhancing the role of the United Nations in addressing international crises and consolidating the principles of dialogue and cooperation among countries.

It continued that this support contributes to achieving international peace and stability and enhances the Arab presence in positions of international responsibility.
