Taiwan sounds the alarm... Chinese movements raise concerns about a maritime blockade.

The Taiwanese Coast Guard accused Chinese ships of harassing navigation near the eastern coast of the island, amid increasing Chinese naval activities in the area and concerns in Taipei about a possible preparation for a maritime blockade.
The Taiwanese Coast Guard stated that two Chinese ships used radio communications to announce the exercise of maritime jurisdiction, describing those statements as inaccurate claims, and confirming that its ships were sent to monitor Chinese movements.
The authorities added that Chinese Coast Guard activity has increased since June, noting that a Chinese ship approached the Pratas Islands under Taiwanese control on Saturday.
They indicated that their forces have expelled Chinese ships from the waters of the islands 13 times since the beginning of the year, while Taipei expressed concern that the increased movements might be part of potential exercises to impose a maritime blockade, without confirmation that Beijing had decided to undertake such an action.
